Semi Custom Area Rugs
When you shop for semi custom rugs, their will usually be many line art patterns already drawn out. There will also be a number of different color swatches for you to choose from. In most cases, there will also be samples of already made rugs, using these patterns. After you choose the colors, the dealer will be able to fill in those colors on the computer so you can see it. If you don't like the results you can replace some of the colors at that point. It is advisable to bring swatches as picture of other elements in your house so you can match them. You will also have your choice of sizes and possibly even of shapes. Once, you are satisfied the order will be made. You can also order semi custom rugs online. The process is the same as in an actual store. You will have line art designs and color swatches. Some sites will even "color your rug as you choose.
Fully Custom Area Rugs
When you want a design that was completely started from scratch, custom area rugs are the answer. If you already have a design, bring it along with you to the custom carpet crafter. If not, most custom carpet crafters have an artist who will work along with you to create the perfect design. Be sure to think about what overall style you want to give the designer an idea to start with. Decide if you want traditional or contemporary; simple or ornate. The designer will probably also show you some previous designs so s(he) can get a feeling of what you like. You can also ask the designer to copy a picture or item that you choose. If you already have a design, it may just need a bit of a touch up or it may be ready to use. After the design is approved, it is time to choose colors. The designer will certainly help you, but bring along swatches and colors from different areas so that (s)he can help you match the surroundings. She will then color it on the computer and print out a paper sample of what your rug will look like when finished. When everyone is happy you can go home and await your beautiful custom rug.
