ClO2 generators are manufactured to the highest possible quality standards.
Chlorine Dioxide, or ClO2, has long been recognized as a safe and effective sterilizing agent for both large and small-scale industrial and commercial applications. ClO2's special properties make it an ideal choice to meet the challenges of today's environmentally concerned world. It is also an ideal replacement for chlorine, providing all of chlorine's benefits without any of its detriments. ClO2 does not chlorinate organic material, thus resulting in decreased amounts of trihalomethanes (THMs), haloacetic acids (HAAs) and other chlorinated organic compounds. The following properties of ClO2 make it more effective than chlorine, requiring a lower dose and resulting in a lower environmental impact: It is a weaker, more selective oxidizer than chlorine. It has 2.6 times the oxidizing capacity of chlorine. Unlike chlorine, it does not react with ammonia, ammonium or most organic compounds. Unlike chlorine, chlorine dioxide is biocidal over a very broad pH range. ClO2's unique properties have a tremendous impact on how it is marketed and applied. ClO2 is extremely volatile and cannot be transported safely in compressed gas cylinders like chlorine gas. Therefore, a ClO2 generator is used on-site to produce chlorine dioxide. ClO2 generator basics: ClO2 is generated when the feed chemical sodium chlorite is added to chlorine gas (Cl2), hypochlorous acid (HOCl), or hydrochloric acid (HCl). During chlorine dioxide generation, the ClO2 generator monitors temperature and pH levels. ClO2 should not be used as a disinfectant when the storage temperature of the sodium chlorite falls below 40°F (4°C), at which point ClO2 becomes separated into layers (stratification) and can damage the storage vessel. How C102 generators work:
The water required to feed and dilute the chemicals enters the C102 generator through a feed rate meter under vacuum. The vacuum is created by water passing through an eductor. The chemicals are drawn into the educator through rate-controlling rotameters, mix with the water and then flow into a reaction column where the reaction is completed, giving a yield of 95% or higher. From the column the chlorine dioxide solution flows past a pH probe before leaving the C102 generator. For safety reasons the concentration of chlorine dioxide in the C102 generator is maintained between 1,000- and 3,000-ppm. The optimum pH for C102 chemical reactions depends upon the C102 generator design and water alkalinity, but typically a pH of around 4 is ideal. Today, ClO2 generators are manufactured to the highest possible quality standards and represent one of the safest, most reliable and cost effective ways of generating ClO2 at the point of use. The safety features and versatility of C102 generators make them ideal for a range of applications including healthcare and hospital facilities, water hygiene, food and beverage processing, Legionella control, potable water treatment and waste-water treatment at residential, commercial and industrial facilities. Many uses of C102 generators are US EPA, FDA, and UK Government approved, and C102 generators are highly recommended by many researchers and research establishments throughout the world. To select your C102 generator, experienced field engineers are available to assist you with site-specific requirements, on-site start-up, training and technical support. The OXYCHLOR II Generator produces chlorine dioxide (ClO2) by combining sodium chlorite (NaClO2), solution with chlorine (Cl2) gas in the dilution water that creates the vacuum required to feed these chemicals. This design incorporates fail-safe features, since the loss of dilution water flow stops chemical feeds and generation. Each SafeOx model comprises a simple panel-mounted, two-part generating system that uses sodium chlorite and hydrochloric acid in the presence of a unique catalyst to generate significantly greater levels of CIO2 than previously possible. Each model is designed for continuous operation in sterilisation units, cooling towers and other industrial and commercial applications. The benefits and features of SafeOx generators are significant and include:
Safe production of CIO2.
Cost effective, highly potent biocide.
Simple and easy to use generating systems.
Generates 25% more CIO2 than traditional methods.

Sabre's proprietary and patented chlorine dioxide generators and application processes provide it with unique, safe, and highly effective decontamination and restoration tools. Sabre's high-capacity mobile generators can produce chlorine dioxide gas, solution or foam. Gas-phase chlorine dioxide fumigation is one of Sabre's primary decontamination methods for biological contamination and has proven very effective in the remediation of Anthrax (Bacillus anthracis). Sabre has developed the next generation of vacuum driven chlorine dioxide generation systems, that utilize both two and three chemical pre-cursor processes. This design was made to eliminate many of the problems associated with previous methods of chlorine dioxide generation. Sabre's high capacity ClO2 generator systems can produce up to 100,000 pounds of chlorine dioxide per day. There is no other known company that manufactures ClO2 generator systems capable of this production. In fact, these high capacity ClO2 generators like the model to the right are the only operationally proven systems in existence and are responsible for the successful fumigation of over 100,000,000 million cubic feet of government facilities that were contaminated with anthrax in the bioterrorism attacks of 2001. Sabre Oxidation Technologies, Inc. has developed the next generation of vacuum driven chlorine dioxide generation systems, which utilizes both two and three chemical pre-cursor chemical processes. The two chemical process uses 25% aqueous sodium chlorite solution and chlorine gas. To all the features of the OXYCHLOR Basic Generators:
An integral pH monitoring system ensures proper generation of chlorine dioxide.
A vacuum feed system that provides continuous proportional feed of all reacting chemicals.
OXYCHLOR Generators add:
Low chemical alarms
Positive chemical shutoffs
Programmed generator purge
PLC control for customer programming, interface and alarms
All this without sacrificing the simplicity of installation and operation - just plumb, plug and go! The motive water required to feed and dilute chemicals enters the generator through the right-hand true union. It then flows through the eductor, where it creates the vacuum that draws the feed chemicals through rate-controlling rotameters. These chemicals mix with the diluting, motive water in the eductor and flow into the column where the reaction goes to completion. From the column the chlorine dioxide solution flow past the pH probe before leaving the generator at left-hand true union. This design has significant advantages. The use of dilution water to draw feed chemicals into the generator ensures that chlorine dioxide concentrations are always kept in a safe range. Additionally, the use of a vacuum feed system means that any leaks in the feed chemical lines will not spill chemicals; but rather draw air into the generator. The pH probe installed at the generator effluent continuously monitors the generator performance. For proper operation the generator must be kept in a narrow pH range. Below this range, excess chlorine converts chlorine dioxide to chlorate ion; above this range the lack of chlorine results in unreacted chlorite ion. CHLORINE DIOXIDE GENERATING SYSTEM
International Dioxide, Inc.'s (IDI) patented OXYCHLOR II chlorine dioxide generating system is based on the reaction of either sodium chlorite and chlorine gas in solution, or sodium chlorite, sodium hypochlorite and hydrochloric acid solution. The latter process is available from IDI when chlorine gas is not desired. Patented System Process
The OXYCHLOR II generator described here is a chlorite/chlorine vacuum-based system. The chemicals are proportioned through feed rate meter under vacuum. The vacuum is created by water passing through an eductor. As the chemicals are drawn into the educator the are instantaneously introduced into the water stream. The chlorine dioxide solution next passes through a reaction column where the reaction is completed, giving a yield of 95% or higher. Because there is a more complete reaction, the high purity of the resulting chlorine dioxide minimizes formation of harmful Trihalomethane (THMs) and other chlorinated organics. We also offer a full line of chlorine dioxide generators including single precursor electrochemical chlorine dioxide generation, automatic flow pacing and multi-point generation systems. Experienced field engineers are also available to assist with site-specific requirements, including on-site start-up, training and technical support.
